my favourite top 3 coffee places

heres my current personal favourite coffee places in Petaling Jaya / Kuala Lumpur.

*editor’s note : i’m a no-sugar added latte person, i take milk , microfoam and latte art seriously. so, heres my top 3, not in any particular order.

F Buffalo Kitchen
its at Bangsar, just right upstairs from Chawan, same row as Madam Kwans. Not easy to find parking, best to park at Bangsar Village and walk over.
Smoking area : YES
Pet friendly : NO
FOOD : MODERATE, they have lunch sets

What i like about the coffee / latte : coffee beans from GaBee (taiwan), milk thick enough with microfoam and an after burnt bitter taste on the foam. Coffee doesnt taste sour. Regular latte priced at RM8, takeaways half priced. *awesome* “F” closes around 1am.

Departure Lounge

Available at 2 places – Damansara Utama & Solaris. Parking at Solaris Kiara relatively easier.

Smoking area : YES
Pet friendly : NO
FOOD : light sandwiches, english breakfast, pasta

What i like about the coffee / latte : very good latte art, satisfying coffee and baristas have won awards. no doubt, very very good coffee.

Great travel books free to read too.

WHISK

Small little place in Empire Shopping Gallery Subang Jaya. (just outside of Jaya Grocer)

Smoking area : NO
Pet friendly : NO
FOOD : cakes, bagels, macarons, sweets. famous for red velvet cake

What i like about the coffee / latte : creamy and thick, however, coffee not hot enough. constantly changing different beans, so watch their menu. Regular latte priced at RM10, a little on the pricier side.

Easy parking available as its in a shopping mall. Closes at 10pm.

review : ‘F’ by buffalo kitchen (restaurant / cafe) @ Bangsar

Tucked upstairs in the middle of Bangsar (right above Chawan actually), this little place is quite a gem. I love it simply because its quiet, a GREAT place for business meetings, lunch and chats. They even 3-course set lunch at an affordable price of RM18++. As far as I’ve gathered, (correct me if im wrong), this restaurant is open by Buffalo kitchenwares / cookware.

Interior decorating is modern and pleasing to the eye with wood panels and book displays. 3 main attractions to the interior that i really like is…

1) the open kitchen

2) the coffee bar

3) balcony for smoking session

Seared tuna salad

squid ink linguini

teriyaki chicken risotto

Overall, the food was alright, good but not GREAT, can be improved definitely, BUT what i really really really LOVE about this place is the coffee. I fell instantly in love with it. Had both regular latte and cappuccino. The milk microfoam was incredible, great latte art and i didnt have to out sugar into them. it was that good. i love the end bitter / golden roasted taste from the microfoam itself. Later got to know that they carry coffee from GaBee (Taiwan based)

cappucino

latte

Conclusion : Definitely going back for coffee.

Brotzeit is in Malaysia!

just 2 months ago I was visiting Singapore and stumbled into this very good German food/bar ; Brotzeit. Immediately fell in love with it and told myself I’m so going back there. I was just craving for it few weeks back when suddenly my friend shouted to me “GUESS WHAT?? BROTZEIT IS IN MALAYSIA?” immediately we made a reservation at Mid Valley and lo and behold, 7 pax went to dine in. We were like hungry ghost :)

the pork ribs were really good but beware it was HUGE….

pork knuckle was decent enough, also big portion (for 2 person)….

one of my favourite for the night, beef goulash, such comforting dish…

if you like sausages, go for the platter…

and a must have (im going back to this place because of this), PORK SCHNITZEL…

like all German food / bar, one must order beer, moreover its Oktober Fest, cheers!! 1 litre bier!

I suggest that you make reservations before heading there as it can be quite packed for dinner.

Absolutely non-halal with all these pork and alcohol.
