my favourite top 3 coffee places

heres my current personal favourite coffee places in Petaling Jaya / Kuala Lumpur.

*editor’s note : i’m a no-sugar added latte person, i take milk , microfoam and latte art seriously. so, heres my top 3, not in any particular order.

F Buffalo Kitchen
its at Bangsar, just right upstairs from Chawan, same row as Madam Kwans. Not easy to find parking, best to park at Bangsar Village and walk over.
Smoking area : YES
Pet friendly : NO
FOOD : MODERATE, they have lunch sets

What i like about the coffee / latte : coffee beans from GaBee (taiwan), milk thick enough with microfoam and an after burnt bitter taste on the foam. Coffee doesnt taste sour. Regular latte priced at RM8, takeaways half priced. *awesome* “F” closes around 1am.

Departure Lounge

Available at 2 places – Damansara Utama & Solaris. Parking at Solaris Kiara relatively easier.

Smoking area : YES
Pet friendly : NO
FOOD : light sandwiches, english breakfast, pasta

What i like about the coffee / latte : very good latte art, satisfying coffee and baristas have won awards. no doubt, very very good coffee.

Great travel books free to read too.

WHISK

Small little place in Empire Shopping Gallery Subang Jaya. (just outside of Jaya Grocer)

Smoking area : NO
Pet friendly : NO
FOOD : cakes, bagels, macarons, sweets. famous for red velvet cake

What i like about the coffee / latte : creamy and thick, however, coffee not hot enough. constantly changing different beans, so watch their menu. Regular latte priced at RM10, a little on the pricier side.

Easy parking available as its in a shopping mall. Closes at 10pm.

Join the marathon at least once in a lifetime!

I’m glad i did it. Was so not looking forward to it at all, but when i got to the venue, the energy, the vibe was just awesome. Thousands of people, all up early morning at 5.30am gathered at Dataran Merdeka, KL for the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon.

Few days before the race, we were given a pack which consist of your bib number, singlet sponsored by New Balanced, a manual book and a red tag, which i think is an awesome device. The organizers will get to track all runners by this tag thats tagged on your shoe. This tag probably consist of the runner’s details and they could track your time too.

There were few categories in this marathon : Full marathon 42km, Half marathon 21km, 10km, 5km and some other kids run. Since this was my first time, i joined the 10km run. HOWEVER….i went there without ANY training. NONE. Yes, i’m THAT brave. *LOL* nonetheless, i’m proud of myself for going thru that 10km, though not in qualifying time of 1.5hrs, i finished it in 2hr :P (you can take your time and finish the run, theres no pressure here, but there is a qualifying time, guess its more for the certificate.)

There are, however 2 things that i wasnt too happy about the marathon, which i REALLY hope the organizers will take note of;

1) There are NO MEDICS around / along the marathon. there were police diverting traffic, but i hardly see any medic or even anyone with a tshirt that has a red cross on it.

2) The use of paper cups is so bad for the environment. I dont know what they can do about this, as every participants do need a drink, so maybe this is an issue that needs more thought to it.

Other than that….i wholly encourage everyone to join the marathon at least once in their lifetime to experience it! :)
